The best photos from 66 countries, according to the largest competition in the world

The Sony World Photography Awards, the world’s largest annual photography competition, recently announced the winners for 2017. Now celebrating its 10th year, the awards program received more than 227,000 images from photographers from 183 countries for this year’s competition. One of the contest's top honors is the National Award, in which the best photographs taken by local photographers from 66 countries are judged against others from their country of origin.

Here are all the National Award's first-place winners from all 66 qualifying countries. (NOTE: Captions include where the photographer is from — which is not necessarily where the photo was taken — along with the photographer’s name).
