The world was shocked on Saturday night when the family of Jackie Collins announced she had passed away in Beverly Hills at the age of 77. Known for her risque and over the top novels that portrayed the sexy side of living in Hollywood, Jackie was beloved by legions of fans for the novels she wrote for over three decades. It was revealed by her family that she succumbed to her battle with breast cancer, something she had kept out of the public eye and only revealed to close family and friends.
Her family released the following statement:
“She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words,” the family’s statement, adding that she “was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over 4 decades.”
Collins has had 32 New York Times bestselling novels all which have sold over 500 million copies worldwide. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and had since released 5 novels, her latest being ‘The Santangelos’ which was released this past summer. Her legacy will live on through the 45 years of literature she produced over the course of her career.
