My mature (shall we say) mind kept going back to Ava Gardner, Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean, Marlon Brando, Sophia Loren, Gregory Peck, etc. My bad! Reply Robert Duncan says: December 18, 2016 at 4:01 pm I wouldn’t recognize most of today’s Movie Stars by name. Too many do a sitcom and expect a “Walk of Fame” Hollywood Star. A handful of actresses are rising above and stand out for this old time movie buff and retired camera crane/dolly Grip. The 60’s and 70’s saw the end of an era when Stars were under contract with major lots; they behaved themselves and put a lid on their political leanings and weren’t so self-important. They were golden. Today’s mess does offer promise and some tremendously talented people. Films are screened differently nowadays as the walk-in theaters have given way to in-home flat-sreens. Something was lost during this transition…sad. Viewing has moved from an “Experience” to “let’s see what’s on Dish or Direct tonight? Do we have to pay that much more for a current movie? Ah, wait a month and get it at our base rate”? Actors need agents, managers, etc. which don’t come cheap before nor after success. A very small percentile actually make a living at acting, so study forever, hoping get a break from tedious “Cattle Calls”. A double-feature and air-conditioning for a quarter? Not anymore. More power to our newbies, but don’t let the door hit you in the rear… Reply Write a Reply or Comment Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
